BRAGADAYJAH
920
Having
heard what he wanted to hear of the Lord, David went out against the
Philistines and met them at Baal-perazim and smote them there. And David
declared, “The Lord hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me as the breach
of waters. Therefore he called the name of the place Baal-perazim, signifying
the plain of breaches. And the images of
the Philistines which were left behind, David burnt them. And the Philistines came up yet again, and
spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And when David enquired of the
Lord, He said, “Thou shall not go up, but take a compass behind them and come upon
them over against the mulberry trees.
And let it be that when you hear a going in the top of the mulberry
trees that would be the time to bestir yourself; for then shall the Lord go out
before you, to smite the host of the Philistines.” And David did so as the Lord
had commanded him and smote the Philistines from Geba to Gazer.
