BRAGADAYJAH 532

BRAGADAYJAH 532

Now Moses addressed the children of Israel the day they were about to cross over the Jordan as he sadly reflected on the past.  “Hear O Israel, you are to pass over the Jordan this day, to go into possess nations that are greater and mightier than you are, with cities fortified up to heaven. There are people great and tall, the children of the Anakim, whom you are aware of, and who you have heard it said, “Who can stand before the children of Anak?”  Know, therefore, this day, that the Lord your God is the one who goes over before you; as a consuming fire He shall destroy them and cause them to fall before your face, so that you will destroy them and drive them out quickly as the Lord has said unto you.”
“Do not tell yourself after the Lord has cast them out, that it was because of your righteousness that the Lord has brought you in to possess the land; but because of the wickedness of those nations. the Lord has cast them out. It is not for your righteousness or because of the uprightness of your heart that you get to possess the land; but for the wickedness of those nations, he has driven them out before you, and also to perform the promises which He made to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Understand, therefore, that the Lord already knows you are a stiff-necked people even though He has given you this land to possess.

BRAGADAYJAH 531

BRAGADAYJAH 531
And do not forget Moses reminded the children of Israel that when God led you out of Egypt, through the great and terrible wilderness, there were fiery serpents and scorpions, and droughts where there was no water; and who brought you forth water out of a rock of flint? Who fed you in the wilderness with manner which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and test you in the land wherein you shall go?

“You may think to yourself that it was your power and your might that have gotten you your wealth and your comforts; but remember the Lord your God; for it is He who gives you power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers as to this day. And it shall come to pass that if you by any means forget the Lord your God and walk after other Gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.  As the nations which the Lord destroyed before your face, so shall you perish for not being obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.”

So, Moses told his people, “a father chastises his son, so also the Lord your God will chastise you.”  Therefore, he warned them, “you must keep the commandments of the Lord your God, to walk in His commandments and to fear Him.  For the Lord your God brings you into a good land; a land of brooks of water; of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hill; a land of wheat and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; a land wherein you shall eat bread without scarcity; you shall lack nothing in it; a land where stones are iron; a land out of whose hills you may dib bronze.”

“And when you have eaten and are full, then you must bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given to you. Beware that you do not forget the Lord your God and not keep his commandments and His ordinances and His statutes, all of which I have commanded you this day. So that when you have eaten and are full, and you build nice houses and dwell in them, and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are in abundance, and you have become rich, your heart does not become lifted up and you forget the Lord your God who brought you up out of the house of bondage in Egypt.

Moses Sought to Reminisce and Inspire the People
Now Moses continues to instruct the people as he looked backwards across the landscape they had travelled, and forwards to the land and the journey and the challenges and rewards that la ahead.
So he commanded them, all he commandments which I command thee this day, shall you keep that you may live, and multiply and go in and possess the land which the Lord promised to give to your fathers.  You must remember all the way through which the Lord your God led you for forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.
And he humbled you and allowed you to suffer hunger, and fed you with manna which neither you nor your fathers knew before, that He might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.

Your clothes grew not old, neither did your feet swell over the period of forty years. Know, therefore in your heart that as a father chastises his son, so the Lord God chastises you.

Moses continued to encourage his People
“Do not be frightened of them,” he encouraged them, “for the Lord your God is among you, a mighty and awesome God.”
“And the Lord your God will put out the nations before you little by little, not destroy them all at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon you. But the Lord your God shall deliver them unto you, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction until they are no more.  And He shall deliver their kings into your hand, and you shall destroy their name from under heaven; and no man shall be able to stand before you until you destroy them. Then the carved images of their gods you shall burn with fire, and you must not desire the silver and gold that is on them, near take it unto you, lest it be a snare unto you; for it is an abomination unto the Lord your God. Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house lest you be a curse like unto it; but thou shall utterly detest it, and utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.

God’s Promise of Victory
So shall it be that you keep all of God’s commandments, statues and ordinances , He shall keep all the promises He made unto your fathers. And He will love you, and bless you, and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of the land; your grain, and your wine and your oil, and increase your cattle and our flocks of your sheep when you are in the land which He promised you. You shall be blessed above all people; there shall be no barren male of female among you, or among your cattle. And the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, diseases you know quite well, upon you; but will lay them upon all those who hate you. And you will consume all the people whom the Lord your God will deliver unto you; your eyes shall have no pity upon them, neither shall you serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto you. If you shall think in your heart that perhaps these nations are greater than you, and you cannot possess them?  Do not be afraid. Just remember what the Lord your God did unto Pharaoh and all Egypt.

Remember the great temptations which your eyes saw, and the signs and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, whereby the Lord your God brought you out; so do not be afraid.

BRAGADAYJAH 526
Moses explained to the children of Israel the reason the Lord chose them from among all the peoples of the earth.  “The Lord did not set His love upon you, nor chose you because you were more in number than any people, for you were the fewest in number of all people.  But because the Lord loved you, and because He would keep His oath which He swore unto your fathers.   That is the reason the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage from the land of Pharaoh King of Egypt.”
“Know, therefore, that the Lord your God He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy with them who love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations, and repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them; He will not be slack to them that hate Him; He will repay them to their face.”

“Thou shall, therefore, keep His commandments, and the statutes and the ordinances which I command you this day to do them.”

BRAGADAJAH 525

Moses now recites to the children of Israel, the Lord’s requirement for obedience and the result of disobedience, including the requirement for separation.  So Moses told them when the Lord your God shall bring you into the land of promise,  having defeated all the nations that stand in your way, you must smite them and utterly destroy them. And not make any treaty with them.  You must not marry them, their sons or their daughters, neither shall you give your sons and your daughters in marriage to them. For if you do they shall turn the hearts of your sons and your daughters away from your true God, and cause them to serve other gods, thereby incurring the wrath of your  God and He destroy you suddenly.  On the contrary you shall destroy their altars, break down their images and cut down their idols, and burn all their carved images with fire. For you are a holy people unto the Lord your God, the Lord who has chosen you to be a special people unto himself; a people above all people who are upon the face of all the earth.

LET NO MAN HINDER YOU

What's on My Mind? A Greek word Akolutos which translates "unhinderedly, the last word in the Book of Acts.  The King James Bible translated the last sentence, "No man hindering him (Paul)
The last vision I had of Christ's coming, (see an account in Escape or Perish the Rapture) I recounted how Christ came down and held me be the hand to take me up and at the last moment my thoughts fell on my twin boys whereupon the Lord let go of my hand, rather roughly,  and said, "You are not ready."  When I woke, I related the vision to my wife Elsa, and her response was, "I am not going to let anyone hinder me."  I smiled to my self because the word Akolutos popped into my head as I was at the time revising the Book of Acts. What an important word, I thought, Elsa is now in heaven, and how do I know? She passed shortly after I told her of my vision and I prayed God would let her come and tell me if she was happy where she was.
God granted my wish and I saw her in a vision.  She and I spoke face to face and I asked her if she had seen God and if she was happy and she answered yes to both questions; and that gave me a large degree of comfort and closure. Today I was speaking to my sister Irene, and my advice to her, and my advice to all who would listen is do not let anyone hinder you.   Satan is rampant in the world today because he knows his end is near.  His place in eternity is settled and so he goes about seeking souls to devour. Friends, trust me there are many sick, Satan-possessed, restless and burdened souls in the world who, instead of bending their knees and kneeling before the Lord of Lord and King of Kings and unburden their sinful burdened souls, they, like Satan, go round like roaring lions seeking to burden your soul by causing you to become embroiled in their miserable and sin stained lives.  My advice is not to engage them, or let them cast their burdens upon you.  Jesus is the  burden bearer, and the only one who can expatiate their troubled lives.  DO NOT LET THEM BURDEN OR HINDER YOU!

BRAGADAYJAH 524

Continuing with his warnings and exhortations following upon this second giving of the law, as the name Deuteronomy implies, Moses continued
“Thou shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him and swear by His name.  You shall not go after other gods, or the gods of the people all around you.  For the Lord your God is a jealous God, and to prevent the anger of the Lord your God be kindled against you and destroy you off the face of the earth, you shall not put the Lord your God to the test as you did in Masah.  You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God together with His testimonies and His statutes which He has commanded; always doing that which is good and right in His sight that He may dwell with you, and that you may go in and possess the land which the Lord swore to give to your fathers, having cast out all your enemies before you.”

“And when your son asks you in time to come and say, what is the meaning of all these commandments and statues and ordinances?” You shall be able to say unto them “We were Pharaoh’s slaves in the land of Egypt and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand.  And the Lord showed us signs and wonders great and severe upon Egypt and upon Pharaoh and upon all his household before our eyes.  And He brought us up out from there that He might bring us in to give us this good land which He swore unto our fathers.  And so the Lord commanded us to keep all these His commandments and statutes, and ordinances, to fear Him always, that He might preserve us alive as of this day; for it is our righteousness to do as God commands in all these things.”

Parents to Teach Their Children
Just as Moses was charged with the responsibility to teach the law of God to the congregation of Israel, so the congregation were charged to teach them to their children.

“And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart, and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your houses, and when  you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.  You shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes; and you shall write them upon the posts of your house, and on your gates.  And so shall it come to pass, when the Lord your God would have brought you into the land which He swore to your fathers Abraham, and Isaac and Jacob to give you, great and beautiful cities which you did not build, wells of water which you did not dig, vineyards and orange trees which you did not plant, and when you would have eaten and are full, beware lest you forget the Lord, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of bondage.

BRAGADAYJAH 522
Moses summarized his exposition of the law by concluding, ‘Now these are the commandments, the  statutes and the ordinances which the Lord our G od commanded me to teach you that you might do them in the land to which you go to possess it.  That you might fear the Lord your God to keep all his statutes and His commandments which I command you, your sons and you son’s sons, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.  Hear, therefore, O Israel and observe to do it that you may increase mightily as the Lord the God of your fathers have promised you in the land that flows with milk and honey.’
‘And hear O Israel, Moses proclaimed, the LORD your God is one LORD. And thou shall love the LORD your God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.’

This pronouncement by Moses, [the Shema] that day has continued to live in the hearts and ears of every child of Israel from that day up to the present time. It embodies and solidifies the basic monotheistic doctrine of Judaism that there is one God and father of all.  The Shema is recited every time the children of Israel assembly themselves for worship, as well as at other times during the day.

Moses continued to commune with the people and said to them “The Lord heard the voice of your words which you spoke to me, and the Lord said, I have heard the voice of the words of this people and they have well spoken. But oh I wish there was such a heart in them that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it may be well with them, and with their children forever. Go tell them, the Lord said to Moses, go back into your tents. But as for you, Moses, stand here with me and I will speak unto you all the commandments, and the statutes and the ordinances which you shall teach them that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess. But these commandments which I give to them they will perform, not turning either from the right hand or the left.  You shall walk in all the ways the Lord thy God commanded you that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.

At that Moses recited that the foregoing were the very words of the Lord spoken to the whole assembly from the Mount in the midst of the fire of the cloud and the thick darkness with a great voice and then he ceased; and these words he wrote on two tables of stone and delivered them unto me.  And it happened that when you heard the voice in the middle of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn with fire), that you came near unto me, all the heads and elders of your tribes and said to me, “The Lord our God has shown His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice out of the midst of the fire; we have seen this day that God does speak with man and He lives.”

Now, therefore why should we die? For this great fire shall consume us; if we hear the voice of or Lord anymore then we will shall die. For who is there in all flesh who shall hear the voice of the living God, speaking out of the midst of the fire as we have and then lived? Therefore go you near and hear all the Lord our God shall say and come again and tell us all the Lord our God shall say unto you, and we will hear it and do it. More

BRAGADAYJAH 519
Continuing on, Moses reminded the people of the commandments of God given on Mount Sinai.
3    Thou shall not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
4     Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it as the Lord your God has commanded you. Six days shall you Labor and do all your work. But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.  In it you shall do no manner of work; not you nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your cattle, nor your ass, not even the stranger that is living with you, that your servants may rest as well as you. For remember you were once a servant in Egypt and the Lord your God brought you out from there through a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, therefore the Lord your God command you to keep the Sabbath day.
5     Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you in the land which the Lord your God gives to you.
6     You must not kill.
7    You must not commit adultery
8   You must not steal
9    You must not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10  Neither shall you desire your neighbor’s wife, nor covet your neighbor’s house, his field, his manservant or his maidservant, his ox his ass, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

GRAGADAYJAH 518

By this time, Moses was ready to rehearse the law to the children of Israel which was given to him to teach to them. At this time he was on the side of the Jordan in the land of the Medianites, land he had possessed of Sihon king of the Medianites and Og king of the Amorites from Aroer to Mount Sion which is Hermon.
And Moses called all Israel together and addressed them and said:Hear O Israel the statutes and ordinances which I speak in your ears this day, that you may learn them, and keep, and do them.  The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.  This was a covenant not made with our fathers, but with us who are all here and alive this day. The Lord talked with you face to face, in the mount in the midst of the fire. I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to show you the words of the Lord, because you were afraid by reason of the fire and went not up unto the mountain. And the Lord said to you, “I am the Lord your God who brought you up out of the Land of Egypt out of the house of bondage.
1     Thou shall have no other gods before me;

2     Thou shall not make unto thee any carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or is in the waters beneath the earth. Thou shall not bow down thyself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God and am a jealous God visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of that hate me, and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. A Valentine Gift from "Cry Out My Soul," By Prince John Chaber

                        ***
If You Were My Valentine
If you were my valentine,
Flowers could not say
How happy ‘tis to call you mine
And to love you every day.
If you were my valentine,
Words could not describe,
Just how wonderful, sublime,
Your love for me provide.
If you were my valentine,
Our hearts would beat as one.
And the sweet fragrance of the eglantine,
Would shower our lives alone.
If you were my valentine,
There’d be sunshine every day
And the snowdrops of the wintertime
Would hastily melt away.
If I were your valentine,
Song birds would sing for you.
Red robins, larks, the nightingale,
Would make music just for you.
If I were your valentine,
The wind would whisper in your ear
Sweet echoes of a love sublime
E’en when there comes a tear.
If I were your valentine,
The oceans vast and wide
Would take our ship across the line
Along the restless tide.
 If I were your valentine,
And you my dear were mine
Our hearts would sing a chorus fine
And our lips would taste like wine.
If I were your valentine,
The world would be your throne.
And we would fitly spend out time,
As if the world were ours alone.
If I were your valentine,
You’d never have a care.
And would be wrapped in glorious sunshine
All throughout the year.
If I were your valentine,
My love would fill your world.
And you’d be happy you are mine
And I your pot of gold.
If your were my valentine,
My love would fill your cup.
And throughout time your love and mine,

Would in blissful harmony sup..

BRAGADAYJAH 517

BRAGADAYJAH 517

Moses continued with expounded to the people the might and majesty of God, reminding them of the wonderful works God wrought in their sight.
"Out of heaven he made you to hear His voice that He may instruct you, and upon earth He demonstrated by showing you great fire, and spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. And because He loved your fathers, He chose their seed after them and brought you out of Egypt by His mighty power out of Egypt, to drive out nations from before you, nations which were mightier and greater then you were and He gave you their lands. Know, therefore, this day and consider it in your heart that the Lord He is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath, and there is none like Him."

Then Moses separated and set aside three cities on this side of the Jordan towards the rising sun. that the man-slayer may flee there after he accidentally killed his neighbor, that entering one of these cities he might live and not be killed. These cities were Bezer, in the wilderness in the plain country of the Reubenites, Ramoth in Gilead of the Giladites, and Golan in Bashan of the Mannassites.

Moses continued to warn the people against apostasy in the new land. He said, “The Lord shall scatter you among the nations and you shall be left few in number among the nations where the Lord shall lead you. And there you shall serve gods which are the work of men’s hands; gods made of wood and stone, which neither see nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. But if when you get there you seek the Lord your God you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and soul.  When you are in tribulation, and all these things are come upon you, even in the latter days, if you return unto the Lord your God and be obedient to his voice, ({For the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you or destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore unto them.  Ask me now of the days that are past, continued Moses, days which were before your time, going back to the day God created man upon the earth, and ask them from one side of heaven unto the other whether there has been any such thing as this, God speaking out of the fire and live? Or has God ventured to go and take Him a nation from another nation by temptations and signs, and by wonders, and by war and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors according to all that the Lord God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes?  These things were done so that you might know that the Lord He is God and that there is none like Him.

Moses Must Die on this Side of the Jordan
Moses reminded the children of Israel that it was up to them to go over and possess the land of Canaan after wandering in the wilderness for forty years.  But he warned them to keep the commandments, statutes and ordinances of the Lord their God, using his own example as a point of reference, and pointing out his own consequence because he had disobeyed the Lord.
“I shall die in this land, and not go over the Jordan,” Moses told them,” but you must go over and possess that good land.”
Therefore, take heed to yourselves less when you get there you forget the covenant of the Lord your God which He made with you, and make you any carved idol which the Lord has forbidden. For the Lord your God is a consuming fire and a jealous God.”

“If when you enter into the promised land and have children, and your children shall have children, and you forget after you have remained long in the land, and make any carved image or any likeness of any graven image and do wickedly and corrupt yourselves, and provoke the Lord to anger, I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day that you shall soon utterly perish from off the land. Your days shall not be prolonged upon it; but you shall be utterly destroyed.

Therefore, Moses warned the people, take careful heed unto yourselves; for on the day the Lord spoke to you, you saw no likeness of Him when He spoke with you out of the fire at Horeb, lest you pollute yourselves and make to yourself any carved image, or any likeness of any figure male or female, nor the likeness of any beast, or winged fowl that flies through the air, or any creeping thing that creeps on the ground, or the likeness of anything sea that is in the sea, lest you lift up your eyes unto heaven and when you see the sun, the moon and the stars, and all the host of heaven, you should be driven to worship them and serve them which the Lord has divided unto all nations under heaven,
Remember the Lord has taken you and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt to be a people of inheritance as you are this day.

Furthermore, the Lord was angry with me for your sakes and swore that I should not go in unto the good land which the Lord thy God gives you for an inheritance.

Moses continues to address the new Nation

“Take heed to yourselves and keep your souls diligently lest you forget the things you which your eyes have seen and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life; but teach them to thy sons and thy son’s sons.  Never forget the day you stood before the Lord your God in Horeb when the Lord said to me, “Gather me the people together and I will make them hear my words that they may learn to fear me all the days of their life upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. Then you came near and stood under the mountain and the mountain burned with fire; it burned unto the midst of heaven with darkness, clouds and thick darkness.  And the Lord spoke unto you out of the midst of the fire. You heard the voice of his words but saw no likeness.  You only heard a voice; and he declared unto you his covenant which he commanded you to perform, namely the Ten Commandments and he wrote them on two tables of stone.  And the Lord commanded me at that time to teach you his statutes and his commandments that you may do them in the land which you are about to go over and possess. “

BRAGADAYJAH 511

BRAGADAYJAH 511

Having recited the journeying and the errors of the old generation, Moses bid the new to hearken unto the statutes and ordinances of the Lord which he was teaching them, that they may go in and inherit the land.  He cautioned them not to add to or take away from the word of the Lord their God that they may keep them as commanded.
Moses reminded them that they had seen for themselves, what happened at Baal-peor to all the men who had followed after Baal, pointing out that all the ones who followed the Lord were still alive, whereas all those others were then dead.
Therefore, Moses told the children of Israel, keep and do the Lord’s statutes; for by them are your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the nations; for they shall hear of these great statutes and they will say, surely, that nation get its wisdom and understanding from keeping the ordinances and statutes of their God.

For what nation is there so great and have a God as near unto them is this nation, a God that they can call upon in all things. And what nation has statutes and ordinances so just as this nation?

BRAGADAYJAH 510

BRAGADAYJAY 510
Moses, a man chosen by God
It is self-evident that when God choses a man for a specific task, that man may not be perfect; but he is well suited, and one may even say best suited for that task.  This can clearly be said of Moses.  He was not perfect in every respect; but he feared and honored and served God as best he could and surely no man can do better than his best.
So that when Moses fell short, God took away from him, not his eternal reward, but a bit of his earthy satisfaction. So, God told him, you embarrassed me in the matter of the rock.  I told you to peak to the rock and you disobeyed me; you allowed your pride and or your anger to get the better of you and did not do as I commanded you; therefore, you shall see this new land; but never taste it.  Therefore the Lord commanded him to prepare Joshua to take over from him and lead the people in.  And in the meantime Moses was to encourage and strengthen Joshua; even though, he was not the one destined to lead them in.  “True you have lead them for forty years, Moses, but you blew it.  Therefore I shall take away one star from your crown.”

Many of us would have been at best reluctantly and more likely grudgingly disposed towards our successor; but not Moses.  He accepted God’s will for him.  He willingly resigned himself to the fact that he would die on his side of the Jordan, and that his only remaining function was to prepare Joshua and the new generation of Israel to enter into, and possess the land on the other side, the land of Canaan.

Moses Barred from Entering the Land of Promise
As the Lord was commanding him with regard to the preparation for entering the Promised Land, Moses asked the Lord, “How about me? Thou oh Lord, Moses intoned, has begun to show your servant your greatness and your mighty hand; for what God is there in earth or heaven like unto you? Who can do according to your works and according to your might?”
“I pray you, let me go over and see the good land that is beyond the Jordan, that goodly mountain and Lebanon.”
“But the Lord was angry with me for your sakes and would not hear me; and the Lord said unto me, let it suffice thee and speak no more unto me of this matter.  Get up to the top of Pisgah and lift up your eyes westward, and northward, and southward, and eastward, and see it with your eyes; for you will not go over the Jordan.”

But charge Joshua and encourage him, and strengthen him; for he shall lead this people over and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shall see.

And Moses said, “I commanded you at that time and said, the Lord your God has given you this land to possess it; you will go over armed in the presence of your brethren the children of Israel, all of you who are fit for war.  But your wives and your children and your cattle since you have much cattle, shall remain in the cities I have given you, until the Lord has given rest unto the rest of your brethren as well as unto you; until they shall also possess the land which the Lord your God has given them beyond the Jordan and then you shall return every one pf you to your possession which I have given you.

And I commanded Joshua at that time and told him, “Your eyes have seen all the Lord your God has done unto these two Kings, so shall the Lord deal with all the Kingdoms over which you shall pass.  Therefore you must not fear them for the Lord your God shall fight for you.”

Og’s land given to the two and a half tribes
Moses continues:  “And the land which we thus possessed from Aroer which is by the river Arnon, and half of Mount Gilead, and the cities thereof I gave to the Reubenites and the Gadites.  And the rest of Gilead and Bashan being part of the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh; all the region of Argob,   and all Bashan which used to be called the land of giants.”
“Jair, the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob unto the borders of the Geshurites, and the Maachathites even Bashan and he called them by his own name Havvoth-jair, which name has remains even unto this day.”
“And I gave Gilead unto Machir.  And unto the Reubenites and the Gadites I gave from Gilead even unto the river Arnon, half the valley and the borders even unto the river Jabbok which the border of the possession of the children Ammon. The Arabah also and the Jordan and its boundary also from Chinnereth even unto the sea and theArabah even the Salt Sea under the slope of Pisgah eastwards.

Moses Recounts the Defeat of Og, king of Bashan
“Then we turned and went up the way of Bashan and Og the king of Bashan came out against us; but the Lord told me not to fear him; for He would deliver unto us the King and all his people and all his land, and that we should do unto Og as we did unto Sihon king of the Amorites.”
“So the Lord our God delivered unto us Og, king of Bashan and all his people and we smote them until there was none of them left.  And we took all his cities at that time sixty in all, and all the region of Argob in the region of Bashan.”
“Those cities were fortified with high walls and gates, together with many un-walled towns.  And we utterly destroyed them as we did unto Sihon king of Heshbon.  We utterly destroyed men, women and children of every city; but all the cattle and the “

So we took at that time of the hands of the two kings of the Amorites the land that was on this side of the Jordan from the river of Arnon to the unto Mount Hermon.”

“So after all the men of war had perished,” said Moses, “the Lord spoke to me and said, you are to pass over through Ar, on the border of Moab this day. And when you encounter the children of Ammon, do not distress them, or meddle with them; for I will not give you any portion of their land for a possession; for I have given it unto the children of Lot. “
“Rise up and pass and take your journey over the river Arnon; for I have given into your hand Sihon, the Amorite King of Heshbon and his land.  Begin to possess it and contend with him in battle.  This day will I begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you upon all the nations under heaven who shall hear reports of you and tremble and will be in anguish because of you.”

So said Moses, “I sent messages of peace to Sihon King of Heshbon saying let me pass through your land, I will pass in peace.  I will not turn away from the highway, I will not turn to the right or to the left. You shall give me food for money that I may eat, and water for money that I may drink; but Sihon, King of Heshbon would not let me pass peaceable for the Lord had hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate that he might deliver him into our hand.  And so when Sihon and his host came out against us, the Lord delivered him into our hands and we smote him and possessed his land.

BRAGADAYJAH 504

Continuing to recount the last leg of their journey before entering upon the promised land Moses spoke about the journey which took them though Mount Seir, the land of the children of Esau and then through the land of the Moabites, the Lord likewise told Moses to leave them alone as that land He had given to the children of Lot for a possession.
The Lord also told Moses that before the occupation of the children of Lot a people known as the Erin dwelt therein, a people great and vast in number.  They were the same kind of people as dwelt in Seir, the people whom the spies had described as giants and who had put fear in the hearts of the children of Israel.  But the Lord had allowed the children of Esau to drive them out and gave the land to them, just as he helped the children of Lot to drive out the occupants and possess the land.

Now let us rise up Moses told them and let us go over the brook Zered and as Moses recalled that from Kadesh-Barnea, to Seir, through Moab, until they crossed over the Brook Zered was thirty eight years, during which time all the men of war had perished as the Lord had said they would.

Serena Champion of Champions

Serena Champion of Champions
Game set and match with her sixteenth ace,
So Serena thought, “Not so fast,” umpire called “Let.”
The seventeenth she let fly with awesome pace,
But stalled again, this time they called “Net”
Fast and furious, the eighteenth flew!
Goodness gracious what more can we do?
And at that stage they all clearly knew,
She could hit aces all day and all night too.
It was hard to accept but their idol Sharapova,
Was again being sent home, it was all over.
The champion had written her name etched in stone,
Serena is a champion she’s in a class all her own.
