And
do not forget Moses reminded the children of Israel that when God led you out
of Egypt, through the great and terrible wilderness, there were fiery serpents
and scorpions, and droughts where there was no water; and who brought you forth
water out of a rock of flint? Who fed you in the wilderness with manner which
your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and test you in the land wherein
you shall go?
“You
may think to yourself that it was your power and your might that have gotten
you your wealth and your comforts; but remember the Lord your God; for it is He
who gives you power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He
swore to your fathers as to this day. And it shall come to pass that if you by
any means forget the Lord your God and walk after other Gods, and serve them
and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely
perish. As the nations which the Lord destroyed
before your face, so shall you perish for not being obedient unto the voice of
the Lord your God.”
