BRAGADAYJAH 1359
PSALM 33: A Psalm of Joy. Part I
Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous. For praise is comely for the upright. Praise the Lord with Harp sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song, play skillfully with a loud noise; for the word of the Lord is right. And all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his nostrils. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord. Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him; for he spake and it was done, he commanded and it stood fast. The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to naught; he maketh the devices of the people to none effect. The counsel of the Lord standeth forever; the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

Psalm 32: A Psalm of David
The Blessedness of Forgiveness.
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity. And in whose spirit there is not guile. When I kept silence my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me; my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. I acknowledged my sin unto thee and my iniquity have I not hid. I said I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord, and thou forgiveth the iniquity of my sin, for this shall every man that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found. Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place, thou shall preserve me from trouble; thou shall compass me about with songs of deliverance; I will instruct thee and teach thee, in the way which thou shall go, I will guide thee with mine eye. Be ye not as the horse or as the mule, which have no understanding, whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle; lest they come near unto thee. Many sorrow will be to the wicked, but he that trust in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, ye righteous, and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Psalm 31: A Psalm of David
A Plea for God’s Protection Part II
I have heard the slander of many; fear was on every side; while they took counsel together against me; they devised to take away my life. But I trusted in thee O Lord. I said, thou art my God. My times are in thy hand, deliver me from the hand of of mine enemies and from them that persecute me. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me for thy mercies sake. Let me not be ashamed O Lord for for I have called upon thee, let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. Let the lying lips be put to silence, which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee, which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men. Thou shall hide them in the the secret of thy presence; from the pride of man. Thou shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. Blessed be the Lord for he has shown me his marvelous kindness in a strong city. For I said in my haste I am cut off from before thine eyes, nevertheless, thou heard the voice of of my supplications, when I cried unto thee. O Love the Lord all ye his saints; for the Lord preserves the faithful and patiently reward the proud doer. Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart all ye that hope in the Lord.

Psalm 31: A Psalm of David.
A Plea for God’s Protection: Part I
In thee O Lord do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in thy righteousness. Bow down thy ear unto me. Deliver me speedily, be thou my strong rock; for a house of defence to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. Therefore for thy name’s sake lead me and guide me. Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me; for thou art my strength. Into thine hand I commit my spirit. Thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. I have hated them that regard lying vanities, but I trust in the Lord. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy, for thou hast considered my trouble, thou hast known my soul in adversities, and hast not shut me up in the hand of the enemy; thou hast set my feet in a large room. Have mercy upon me Lord, for I am in trouble; mine eye is consumed with grief; yea my soul and my belly. For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing. My strength faileth because of mine iniquity and my bones are consumed. I was a reproach among all mine enemies; but especially among my neighbors, and a fear of mine acquaintances. They that did see me without fled from me. I am forgotten as a dead man out fo mind; I am like a broken vessel.

Psalm 30: A Psalm of David
I extol thee O Lord for thou hast lift me up; and has not made my foes to rejoice over me. O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me. O Lord thou hast brought up my soul from the grave; thou hast kept me alive that I should not go down to the pit. Sing unto the Lord O ye saints, of his, and give thanks unto the remembrance of his holiness. For his anger endureth for a moment, in his favor is life, weeping may endure for a night; but joy comes in the morning. And in my prophesy I said, I shall never by moved. Lord by thy favor thou has made my mountain to stand strong, thou didst hide thy face and and I was troubled. I cried to thee O Lord, and unto thee do I make supplication. What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? Shall it declare thy truth? Hear O Lord and have mercy upon me. Lord be thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing; thou hast put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness. To the end that my glory will sing praise to thee and not be silent, O Lord my God I will give praise unto thee forever.

Psalm 29: A Psalm of David
God’s Power
Give unto the Lord O ye mighty; give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due his name. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. The voice of the Lord is upon the waters. The God of glory thunders. The Lord is upon many waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; yea the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn. The voice of the Lord divides the flames of fire; the voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the Lord makes the hinds to calve, and discovers the forest; and in his temple everyone speaks of His glory. The Lord sits upon the flood, yea the Lord sits King forever. The Lord gives strength unto his people, the Lord will bless his people with peace.

Psalm 28: A Psalm of David.
Unto thee will I cry O Lord my rock. Be not silent to me. lest if thou be silent to me I become like them that go down into the pit. Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee. When I lift my hands towards thy holy oracle. Draw me not away with the wicked and with the workers of iniquity which speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief in their hearts. Give them according to their deeds and according to the wickedness of their endeavours; give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert, because they regard not the works of the Lord, nor the operations of his hands, he shall destroy them and not build them up. Blessed be the Lord because he has heard the voice of my supplications. The Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted in him; and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise him.The Lord is their strength and he is the saving strength of his anointed. Save thy people and bless thine inheritance; feed them also and lift them up forever.

Psalm 27 Part II
A Psalm of David.
Hear O Lord, when I cry with my voice. Have mercy on me and answer me. When thou said, “Seek ye my face,” my heart said unto me, thy face Lord will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger. Thou hast been my help; leave me not nor forsake me O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. Teach me thy way O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of my enemies; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage; and he will strengthen thy heart; wait I say, on the Lord.

BRAGADAYJAH 1351.
Psalm 27: A Psalm of David.
The Lord is my light and my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked even my enemies and my foes came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this shall I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me. In his pavilion in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me. Therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy. I will sing, yea, I will sing praise unto the Lord.

Psalm 25: A Psalm of David
Unto thee O Lord, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee. Let me not be ashamed. Let not my enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed. Let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. Shew me thy ways O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth and teach me, for thou art the God of my salvation. On thee do I wait all the the day. Remember O Lord thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindness, for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. According to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness sake O Lord. Good and upright is the Lord, therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgement, and the meek will he teach his way. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. For thy name’s sake O Lord, pardon mine iniquity for it is great. What man is he that feareth the Lord? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. The soul shall dwell at ease, and his seed shall inherit the earth. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him, and he shall show them his covenant. Mine eyes are ever towards the Lord, for he shall pluck my feet out of the net. Turn thee unto me and have mercy, unto me for I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged, O bring thou me out of my distress. Look upon my affliction and my pain, and forgive all my sins. Consider my enemies for they are many. And they hate me with cruel hatred. O keep my soul and deliver me. Let me not be ashamed for I put my trust in thee. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait on thee. Redeem Israel O God out of all his troubles.

Ascension of the King of Glory
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. The world and they that dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend unto the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in the holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the Lord of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek Him; that seek thy face O Jacob. Lift up your heads, O ye gates, and be ye lifted up ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads O ye gates, even lift them up ye everlasting doors; and the king of glory shall come in. Who is the King of glory? The Lord of host He is the king of glory.

Psalm 23: A Psalm of David.
The Divine Shepherd.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul, He leads me in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk though the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Thou anoints my head with oil and my cup ruins over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

The Suffering Saviour Part II
Deliver my soul from the sword, my darling from the power of the dog. Save me from the lion’s mouth, for thou has heard me from the horns of the unicorns. I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Ye that fear the LORD praise him, all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted. Neither has he hid his face from him. But when he cried unto him he heard. My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation. I will pay my vows before them that fear him. The meek shall eat and be satisfied, they will praise the Lord that seek him; your heart will live forever. All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD; and all the kindred of the nations shall worship before thee; for the kingdoms is the Lord’s, and he is the governor among the nations. All they that be fat upon the earth, shall eat and worship; all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him. And none can keep alive his own soul. A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted unto the Lord for a generation. They shall come and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born that he has done this.

Psalm 22: A Psalm of David
The Suffering Saviour Part I
My God, my God, why has thou forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God I cry in the daytime, but thou heareth me not, and in the night season, and am not silent.  But thou art holy O thou that inhabiteth the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in thee, they trusted and thou did deliver them. They cried unto thee and were delivered; they trusted in thee and were not confounded; but I am a worm and no man; a reproach to men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn; they shoot out the lip; they shake their head saying, he trusted on the Lord, that he would deliver him, let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. But thou art he that took me out of the womb, thou didst make me hope when I was on my mother’s breast, I was cast upon thee, from the womb, thou art my God from my mother’s belly. Be not far from me, for trouble is near, for there is no one to help. Many bulls have compassed me, strong bulls of Bashan have beset me around. They gasped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is like wax, it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaves to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me, the assembly of the wicked has enclosed me; they pierced my hand and my feet. I may tell all my bones they look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots for my vesture. But be not thou far from me O Lord, O my strength haste thee to my help. [To be continued]

Psalm 21: A Psalm of David [Continued]
His glory, [‘God’s glory] is great in thy salvation, honour and majesty is laid upon him[the king] For thou hast made him most blessed forever. Thou hast made him exceedingly glad with thy countenance. For the king trusteth in the Lord. And through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved. Thine hand shall find out all his enemies; thy hand shall find out all that hate thee. Thou shall make them as a fiery oven, in the time of thine anger, the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Their fruit shall thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men; for they intended evil against thee; they imagined a mischievous device, which they art not able to perform. Therefore, shall thou make them turn their back when thou shall make ready thy arrows upon the strings against the face of them. Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength, so shall we sing and praise thy power.

BRAGADAYJAH 1344

BRAGADAYJAH 1344
21 A Psalm of David
God’s blessing of the king.
It is somewhat ironical if not preordained, that today’s psalm not pre-planned has to do with “God’s blessing of the King, seeing that earlier we wrote on Social Media concerning police intervention with the right of worship as it relates to the Christian religion as opposed to allowing complete freedom to all other religions, fake and otherwise. Readers were reminded that the Stuart kings of England adopted the attitude that they ruled by divine right, and the Monarch takes the title of Defender of the Faith, that is to say the Christian faith; and if there were no Divinity there could be no Divine Right. Be that as it may David in Psalm 21 says, “The king shall joy in thy strength O Lord, and in thy salvation, how greatly shall he rejoice!  Thou hast given him his heart’s desire and has not withholden the request of his lips. For thou preventeth him with thy blessings of goodness thou setteth a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked life of thee and thou gaveth it him even length of days forever and ever. A Plea for help.
The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble, the name of the God of Jacob defend thee. Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion. Remember all thy offering and accept thy burnt sacrifice. Grant thee according to thy own heart and fulfill all thy counsel We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners the Lord fulfill all thy petitions. Now know I that the Lord saveth His anointed; He will hear him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of our Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen; but we are risen and stand upright. Save, Lord, let the King hear us when we call.

BRAGADAYJAH 1342
Psalm 19: A Psalm of David
Concerning the works and word of God.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. There is no speech nor language where where there voice is not heard; their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them has He set a tabernacle for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoicing as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heavens and his circuit to the end of it. And there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul, the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart, the commandment of the Lord is pure enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether, More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold, sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servants warned and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sin, let them not have dominion over me, then will I be upright and I will be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy, O Lord my strength and my redeemer.

Psalm 18: A Psalm of David
Conclusion
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise; they are fallen under my feet; for thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle. Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me. They cried, but there was none to save them even unto the Lord; but He did not answer them. Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind. I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets. Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people, and thou hast made me the head of the heathen, a people whom I have not known shall serve me. As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me; the strangers shall submit themselves unto me. The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places. The Lord liveth and blessed be my rock, and let the God of my salvation be exalted. It is God that avengeth me, and subdue the people under me. He delivereth me from my enemies, yea, thou lifteth me up over those that rise up against me. Thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Therefore will I give thanks to thee O Lord, among the heathen and sing praises unto thy name. Great deliverance giveth He to the king, and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed forevermore.

For who is God save the Lord, or who is a rock save our God? It is God that girdeth me with strength and maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds feet, and setteth me on high places. He teacheth my hand to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by my arm. Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation, and thy right hand hath holden me up. Psalm 18: A Psalm of David Part II
God Delivers His own.
As the brightness that was before Him, His thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire. The Lord also thundered in the heavens and his highness gave his voice hail stones and coals of fire. Yea He sent out His arrows, and scattered them; and He shot out lightnings and discomforted them. Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered. At thy rebuke O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me; for they were too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity. But the Lord was my stay. He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because He delighted in me. The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands has He recompensed me; for I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For all His judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me. I was also upright before Him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. Therefore has the Lord recompensed me according to my uprightness, according to the cleanness of my hands in His eyesight. With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt show thyself upright. With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure with the perverse thou wilt show thyself perverse. Praise to God who delivers His own. Part 1
I will love thee O Lord my strength. The lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer my God.  My strength in whom I will trust, my buckler and the horn of my salvation and my high tower I will call upon the Lord who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies. The sorrows of death compassed me and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of hell compass me about; the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried unto my God; he heard my voice out of the temple, and my cry came before him even his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled and foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also and came down, and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly, yea, he did fly upon the wing; upon the wings of the wind. He made darkness his secret place, his pavilion round about him were dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies. [to be continued]

Psalm 17: A Psalm of David
A Prayer of David – Reliance upon God.
Hear the right O Lord, attend onto my cry; give ear unto my prayer that goeth not out of feigned lips. Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal. Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me and shall find nothing.  I am purposed that my path shall not transgress. Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips, I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. Hold up my goings in thy path, that my footsteps slip not. I have called upon thee for thou wilt hear me. O God incline thine ear unto me and hear my speech. Show thy marvelous lovingkindness O thou that saveth by thy right hand, them who put their trust in thee, from those that rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wing, from the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. They are enclosed in their own fat, with their mouth they speak proudly. They have now compassed us in in our steps, they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth, like as of a lion that is greedy of its prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. Arise O Lord disappoint him and cast him down. Deliver my soul from the wicked which is thy sword; from men which are thy hand O Lord, from men of the world who have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou hast filled with thy hidden treasure; they are full of children and leave the rest of their substance to their babes. As for me I will behold thy face in righteousness, I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.

O my soul thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord; my goodness extendeth not to thee; but to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent in whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another God. Their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, not take up their names into my lips. The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance; and of my cup thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel, my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me, because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoiceth my rest also shall rest in hope. For thou shall not leave my soul in hell, neither will thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption .Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fullness of joy. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that hear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, not taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

BRAGADAYJAH 1334

BRAGADAYJAH 1334
Psalm 14: A Psalm of David.
The Mark of the Godless.
The fool hath said in his heart, “There is no God.”  They are corrupt; they have done abominable works. There is none that doeth good. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men to see if there were any that understand and seek God.  They are all gone aside; they are all together become filthy. There is none that doeth good, no, not one. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord? There were they in great fear; for God is in the generation of the righteous. Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor; because the Lord is his refuge. O that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people. Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. [Comment] How eloquently does God’s word speak to the godless and filthy hearts of today! The word says they are, iniquitous, filthy and abominable. What a timely word!

Psalm 13 – A Psalm of David
Testing in Delay.
How long will thou forget me O Lord? Forever? How long will thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me O Lord, my God, lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death. Lest mine enemy say: “I have prevailed against him and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalm 12. A Psalm of David.
The Scourge of Sinful Speech.
Help Lord, for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fall from among the children of men. They speak vanity everyone with his neighbor with flattering lips, and with a double heart do they speak. The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things. Who have said with our tongue will we prevail. Our lips are our own who shall lord over us? For the oppression of the poor; for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. The words of the Lord are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them O Lord; Thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. The wicked walk on every side when the vilest men are exalted.

Psalm 11: A Psalm of David
Taking Refuge in God.
In the Lord put I my trust; how say ye to my soul, flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow; they make ready their arrow upon the string that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do? The Lord is in His holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven; his eyes behold; His eyelids try the children of men. The Lord trieth the righteous, but the wicked and he who loveth violence, His soul hateth. Upon the wicked He shall rain snares, fire and brimstone and horrible tempests; this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness His countenance doth uphold the upright.

BRAGADAYJAH 1330

BRAGADAYJAH 1330
Psalm 10 A Psalm of David.  A Plea for God’s Judgement
Why standeth thou afar off, O Lord? Why hideth thou thyself in times of trouble? The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor. Let them be taken in the device that they have imagined. For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire and blesseth the covetous whom the Lord abhoreth. The wicked through the pride of his countenance will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. His ways are always grievous; Thy judgments are far above all his sights; as for all his enemies he puffeth at them. He has said in his heart I shall not he moved: for I will never be in adversity. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud; under his tongue is mischief and vanity He sitteth in the lurking places of the village, in the secret place doth he murder the innocent; his eyes are privily set against the poor. He lieth in wait secretly as a loin in his den; he lieth in wait to catch the poor; he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net. He croucheth and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall be his strong ones. He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten; He hideth His face; He will never see it. Arise O Lord, O God lift up thine hand, forget not the humble. Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? He has said in his heart Thou will not require it. Thou hast seen it for thou beholdeth mischief and spite. To require it with thine hand the poor committeth himself unto thee; Thou art the helper of the fatherless. Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man seek out his wickedness, until thou findeth none. The Lord is King forever and ever. The heathen are perished out of the land. Lord thou hast heard the desire of the humble, thou wilt prepare their heart; thou wilt cause thine ear to hear. To judge the fatherless and the oppressed that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

BRAGADAYJAH 1329
Psalm 9: A Psalm of David
Praise for Victory over Enemies
I will praise thee O Lord with my whole heart. I will show forth all thy marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee; I will sing praise to thy name O most High. When my enemies are turned back, they shall fail and perish at thy presence. For thou hast maintained my right and my cause. Thou sit in thy throne judging right. Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked; thou hast put out their name forever and ever. O thou enemy, destruction have come to a perfect end. And thou hast destroyed cities, their memorial is perished with them. But the Lord shall endure forever. He has prepared His throne for judgment. And He shall judge the world in righteousness; He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed; a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee; for for thou Lord has not forsaken them that seek thee. Sing praise to the Lord which dwelleth in Zion; declare among the people His doings. When He maketh inquisition for blood, He remembereth them; He forgeteth not the cry of the humble. Have mercy on me O Lord consider my trouble, which I suffer of them that hate me. Thou that lifteth me up from the gates of death, that I may show forth all thy praise in the gate of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in thy salvation. The heathen are sank down in the pit that they made; in the net which they made is their own foot taken. The Lord is known by the judgement which He executeth, the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall net always be forgotten, the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever; Arise O Lord, let not man prevail. Let the heathen be judged in thy sight. Put them in fear, O Lord that the nations will know themselves to be but men.

Psalm 8  A Psalm of David
God’s Glory, Man’s Dominion
O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who has set Thy glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings has thou ordained strength, because of thine enemies that thou might still the enemy and the avenger. When I consider the heavens, the work of thine fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou has ordained, What is man that thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that thou visitest him?  For thou has made him a little lower than the angels, and has crowned him with glory and honour, Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thine hands; thou hast put all things under his feet.  All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field, the fowl of the air and the fish of the sea; and whatsoever passeth through the path of the sea. O Lord, our Lord how excellent is thy name on all the earth!

BRAGADAYJAH 1327

Psalm 7.
David sings a song unto the Lord.
O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me lest he tear my soul like a lion rendering it in pieces, while there is none to deliver O Lord my God. If I have done this, if there be iniquity in my hands. If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me, (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy), let the enemy persecute my soul and take it; yea let him him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust Selah. Arise O Lord in thine anger lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies and awake for me in the judgement that thou thou hast commanded. So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about for their sake; therefore return thou on high. The Lord shall judge the people; judge me O Lord according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity is in me. O let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just for the righteous. God trieth the hearts and the reins. My defense is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. God judgeth the righteous; and God is angry with the wicked every day. If he turns not he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow and made it ready. He has also prepared for him the instruments of death. He ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. Behold he travaileth in iniquity and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. He maketh a pit, digged it, and is fallen into the pit which he which he made. His mischief shall return unto his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate. I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.www.chaberbooks.com

Psalm 6- A Psalm of David
A Cry for Mercy
O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, nor chasten me in thy hot displeasure.  Have mercy on me O Lord, for I am weak O Lord, heal me, for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed, but thou O Lord how long? Return O Lord and deliver my soul. O Save me for thy mercies’ sake. For in death there is no remembrance of thee; in the grave who shall give thee thanks. I am weary with my groaning, all the night I make my bed to swim. I water my couch with my tears. My eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all my enemies. Depart from me all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer. Let all my enemies be ashamed and sore vexed; let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

Psalm 5 A Prayer for Guidance
A Psalm of David.
Give ear to my words O Lord, consider my meditation. Hearken unto the voice of of my cry, my King, and my God, for unto thee will I pray. My voice shall thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee and will look up. For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight thou hateth all workers of iniquity. Thou shall destroy them that speak leasing. The Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me O Lord in thy righteousness, because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward path is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy thou them O God. Let them fall by their own counsels. Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee; but let all those that put their trust in thee, rejoice. Let them ever shout for joy because thou defendeth them. Let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

BRAGADAYJAH  1325
Psalm 4.
This is an evening song, written by David, and sent to the chief Musician, and intended to be played especially on a stringed instrument. “Hear me when I call, O God, of my righteousness. Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me and hear my prayer. O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity and seek after leasing? Selah. But know that the Lord has set apart him that is godly for himself; the Lord will hear when I call upon him. Stand in awe and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still, Selah. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.  There are many that say, “Who will show us any good?”  Lord lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart more than in the time when their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for thou, Lord, only makes me dwell in safety.[David said he was “enlarged.” He did not mean thereby he got fat or wealthy. What he meant was that his trials in adversity made him a bigger man, stronger, wiser and all the better for having come through suffering. So now he says to God, Thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress.”]

A Psalm of David
Lord how are they increased that trouble me; many are they that rise up against me. Many there be who say of my soul there is no help for him with God; but Thou O Lord art a shield for me. My glory and the lifter up of my head. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of the holy hill. I laid me down and slept; I awakened, for the Lord sustaineth me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people that have set themselves against me round about. Arise O Lord; save me O my God; for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto the Lord. BRAGADAYJAH 1323
Psalm 2
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord, and against the anointed saying:  ”Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh; the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall He speak unto them in his wrath and vex them in his displeasure. Yet have I set my king upon the holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree; the Lord has said unto me, “Thou art my son this day have I begotten thee.”  Ask of me and I will give thee the heathen for an inheritance and the uttermost part of the earth for thy possession. Thou shall break them with a rod of iron thou shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Be wise now, therefore, O ye kings be introduced, ye judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the son lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

BRAGADAYJAH 1322

BRAGADAYJAH 1322
Psalm 1 – A Psalm of David, speaks of two men, two ways to destinies.
“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, not stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season. His leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous; but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

BRAGADAYJAH 1321
Introducing the Book of Psalms
It is with a certain degree of relief that this writer leaves behind the agony and the ecstasy of the sublime story in the book of Job, with its wit and philosophy underpinning the highs and lows in the understanding of the will and purposes, the heart and the mind of God the Supreme Creator and architect of the universe. Leaving those oft troubled and tempestuous sea, its a joy to sail away into calmer more pleasant waters,  and to navigate the more pleasant smoother waters in the book of Psalms. Psalms is of course a Greek translation of what to the Hebrew way of thinking, is a Book of Poems set to music and musical accompaniment. The Hebrews refer to it as Sepher TehIllim or Book of Praises. Some seventy three of them are accredited to King David, twelve to Asaph 50; 73-83, two to King Solomon 72 and 127,  one to Moses 90, one to Ethan 89, twelve to the sons of Korah, a family of LevitIcal singers, 42-49 and 84, 85, 87, 88.  All of these Psalms embrace the theology of what God has done in the past, what He will do in the future, and what he will do at any present time, having due regard to His sovereign power and goodness. Tomorrow God willing, we will present Psalm 1.

BRAGADAYJAH 1320

BRAGADAYJAH. 1320
Renewed Blessing.
After all of these things then came unto Job all his brethren and all his sisters all all of his acquaintances before and ate bread with him in his house and they bemoaned and comforted him over all the evil the Lord had visited on him and each gave him a piece of money and an earring of gold. So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand she asses. He had also seven sons and three daughters And he called the name of the first Jemima, and the name of the second Kezia, and the name of the third Kerin-happuck. And in all the land there were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. After this lived Job a hundred and forty years and saw his sons and his sons sons even unto four generations So Job died been old and full of years.  In the premises, Job died richer that he had been before Satan sought to afflict, impoverish and kill him.  But Satan’s scheme for Job could not overreach God’s love and protection for His beloved servant Job.

BRAGADAYJAH 1319

BRAGADAYJAH 1319
God deals with Job’s Critics.
It it was so that after the Lord had spoken to Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz: My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has done. Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you; for him will I accept; lest I deal with you after your folly in that you have not spoken of me the thing which is right like my servant Job. So Eliphaz the Tamanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did according according as the Lord commanded them. The Lord is about to do something wonderful for Job; but before doing so, he first dealt with Job’s naysayers, those who played God before him, and condemned him based on their own judgments and lack of understanding of the mind of God. Once again this is a further example of the plenary nature of Scripture for it is also written, “Touch not the Lord’s anointed, nor do His prophets any harm.”

BRAGADAYJAH 1318
Job’s Confession
Then Job answered the Lord and said: “I know that thou canst do everything, and no thought can be withholden from thee.  Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? Therefore have I uttered that I understood not, things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.  Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself and I repent in dust and ashes. “Hear we see in Job’s posture before God, although in all of his trials both physical and psychological and in the face of his critics, his so called friends, he had not sinned or lost faith in his redeemer; bu that when confronted and scolded by God, he simply confessed and sort not to avoid by making excuses; not seeking in anyway to justify. Instead he acknowledged God’s Sovereignty and humbled himself before God. In the final analysis we shall see how God ultimately responded to Job.

BRAGADAYJAH 1317
God continues with Job
Out of his mouth go burning lamps and sparks of fire leap out. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke as out of a seething pot or cauldron. His breath kindleth coals and a flame goeth out of his mouth. In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him. The flakes of his flesh are joined together they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved. His heart is as firm as a stone. Yea as hard as a piece of the nether millstone. When he raise up himself the mighty are afraid. By reason of breaking they purify themselves. The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon. He esteemeth iron as straw and brass as cotton wool. The arrow cannot make him flee flingstones are turned with him into stubble. Darts are counted as stubble, he laugheth at the shaking of a spear. Sharp stones are under him. He spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. He maketh the deep to boil like a pot, he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. He maketh a path to shine after him. One would think the deep to be hoary. Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear. He beholdeth all high things; he is a king over all the children of pride.

BRAGADAYJAH 1316

BRAGADAYJAH 1316
God continues to Question Job
He asks: Can thou draw out leviathan with a hook? Or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down? Can thou put a hook into his nose or bore his jaw through with a thorn? Will he malke many supllications unto thee? Will he speak soft words unto thee? Will he make a covenant with thee? Will thou take him for a servant forever? Will thou play with him as with a bird, or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens? Shall the companions make a banquet for him? shall they part him among the merchants? Can thou fill his skin with barbed irons, or his head with fish spears? Lay thin hand upon him remember the battle do no more. Behold the hope of him is in vain. Shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him? None is so fierce that dares stir him up. Who then is able to stand before me? Who has prevented me that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine. I will not conceal his parts nor his power, nor his comely proportion. Who can discover the face of his garment, or who can come to him with his double bridle? Who can open the doors of his face? His teeth are terrible round about; his scales are his pride, shut up together as with a closed seal. One is so near to another that no air can come between them. They are joined one to another; they stick together that they cannot be sundered. His eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

The Lord Continues to scold Job
Then will I also confess unto thee that thy own right hand can save thee. Behold now behemoth which I made with thee, he eateth grass as an ox. Lo now his strength is in the loins and his force in the navel of his belly. He moveth his tail like cedar; the sinews of his stones are wrapped together; his bones are as strong pieces of brass, his bones are like bars of iron. He is the chief of the ways of God, he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him. Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all of the beasts of the field play. He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed and fens. The shady trees cover him with their shadow, the willows of the brook compass him about. Behold he drinketh up a river and hasteth not, He trusteth that he can draw up Jordan in his mouth; he taketh it with his eyes his nose pierceth through snares.
