BRAGADAYJAH 902

BRAGADAYJAH 902
In course of time, the Philistines gathered themselves at Aphek and the Israelites pitched by a fountain in Jazreel.  And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds and by thousands; but David and his men arched rearwards of Achish’s contingent. Soon the Philistines saw David and his men and inquired what they were doing there. And Achish told the princes of the philistines that David used to be the servant of Saul; but over the past several years, David had fallen in with him; and that he found no fault in him.  And the princes of the Philistines were upset with Achish and told him in effect that they were not comfortable going into battle with David, since it was possible that in the midst of battle he should become an adversary against them. They also reminded Achish that this David was the same David that his people sang and danced about saying, “Saul has slayed his thousands, but David his ten thousand.” Therefore, Achish called David and told him that he had found no fault in him since the day they first met; but that the lords were not comfortable with his being present.  So then he advised David, “You may depart in peace.” of course David, being David, protested that he had dealt honestly with his friend Achish, and had not done anything amiss.  But Achish told him he should leave in as much as the lords of the Philistines did not want him among them.  So even though king Achish himself had no problems with having David fight alongside him, he urged him to rise early in the morning and leave so. So David got up early the morning after and departed.
