A moment of Sanity returns to Saul.
And when Saul heard that David had fled to Gath, he sought David no more.  And David asked Achish to give him a place in some town in the country, away from the royal city, if he had no objection. And Achish gave him a place called Ziklag an inheritance of Judah which remained so after that.   And David dwelt in the land of the Philistines for a full sixteen months. And David and his men went up and invaded the Geshurites and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites who had dwelt in the land as of old times, between the region of Shur and Egypt. And David smote the land and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen and the asses, and the camels and the apparel and returned and came to Achish.  And Achish asked him where had been, and David told him against the souls of Judah and against the south of the Jerahmeelites and against the south of the Kenites. Now David left no man or woman alive so that there were no survivors to tell about it.  And David’s report that he had campaigned against and killed Israelites pleased Achish and he offered David the opportunity of remaining with him and to be his servant forever. Because he thought David’s report that he had killed his own people Israel was true and that he was an enemy of Israel..
