BRAGADAYJAH 948
Absalom began to undermine King David his Father
After the reconciliation between King David and his son Absalom, it
came to pass that Absalom assembled together chariots and horses, and fifty men
to run before him. And he rose up one morning and stood beside the King’s gate;
and if any man with a controversy came to the king, Absalom would ask him what
city he was from; and if the response was that he was from one of the tribes of
Israel, then Absalom would say to him, “See that your matter is good and right,
for there is no man deputized by the king to hear you. And he then expressed the wish that he were
made a judge in Israel. So that any man who had an issue, could go before him
and be heard and receive justice. So Absalom put himself in front of everyone
that came to the king for justice; and they would bow down to him and kissed
his hand and so little by little, Absalom won the heart of the people of Israel.
And after a period of forty years,
Absalom asked leave of the king to go and pay his vow which he had made unto
the Lord at Hebron, because he had vowed a vow to the Lord while in Geshur in
Syria while he lived there saying if the Lord if the Lord will allow him to
return again to Jerusalem that he would serve the Lord. And David told him to
go in peace.
