BRAGADAYJAH 944
Absalom Takes revenge on Amnon
In the meantime Absalom had commanded his servants to get Amnon drunk and then kill him.  Absalom encouraged them not to be afraid; but that when the right moment came to kill his brother. And so they did.  And when the king’s other sons saw that Amnon was dead, they got upon their mules and fled away.  And it happened that while they were yet on their way, the news reached David saying that Absalom had killed all the king’s sons and that not one of them was left. And the king rose up and tore his clothes and laid on the earth while all of his servants that were gathered around him did the same.  Then one of David’s servants, Jonadab, the son of David’s brother, told the king he was not to assume that all his sons were dead, but Amnon only; for by the appointment of Absalom, it was settled from the day Amnon forced himself upon his sister Tamar. Therefore, he consoled the king not to take the report that all his sons are dead for it was certain; that Amnon only was dead. After that Absalom fled and while he was fleeing David’s look out saw a group of people coming up the hillside and Jonadab told the king that indeed his sons were approaching; and soon after the king’s son came unto him weeping; and the king also and all his servants wept. And Absalom was away three years during which time David mourned for his son Absalom continually.
