BRAGADAYJAH 938
David’s Punishment
In a typically human criminal court, many malefactors often are set
free on a mere technicality; but not in God’s court. There is no room for technicality, and less
room for doubt. God knows absolutely
those who are guilty and those who are not.
In David’s case, God laid murder in the indictment against David. “Thou
hast killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, (Count 1) and hast taken his
wife, (count 2) and you have used the sword of the children of Ammon to do it,
(Count 3) So now the verdict is, “The sword shall not ever depart from thy
house because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the
Hittite to be thy wife. Behold I will raise up evil against thee out of thine
own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes and give them unto thy
neighbor, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun. For thou
didst it secretly; but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the
sun.” And David said unto Nathan, “I have
sinned against the Lord.” And Nathan
said unto David, “The Lord has also put away thy sins, thou shalt not die.
Howbeit because of this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of
the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that
is born unto thee shall surely die
