David
Had to Fight another War.
Then
it came to pass that David was forced to fight against the Philistines and his
enemies once again. Perhaps it was the Lord’s way of occupying David’s mind
with what came natural to him, to fight against and subdue his enemies. He was sulking before the Lord over the
Lord’s rejection of his offer to build the Lord a house; so then “Go fight
against the Philistines,” was perhaps the Lord’s way of dealing with
David. So David subdued the Philistines
and took Methegammah away from the Philistines. Then he went on to smite Moab,
and measured them with a line and casting them down to the ground. In dealing
with the Moabites David did not destroy them utterly but spared one third of
them; therefore they became David’s servants and brought him gifts. Then David
smote Hadadezer the son of Rehob king of Zobah as he went to recover his border
at the river Euphrates. And David took from him a thousand chariots, seven
hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen.
And David destroyed all the chariot’s horses, except sufficient for a
hundred chariots. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to aid Hadadezer king
of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians, twenty two thousands of them. And David
garrisoned in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and
brought him gifts. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.www.chaberbooks.com
