David
pours out his heart before God.
No
doubt surprised by the Lord God’s response to his offer to build him a house,
David upon receipt of God’s response via Nathan the prophet, went and sat
before the Lord and asked Him, “Who am I O Lord God? And what is my house that you have brought me
hitherto? And yet all this was just a
small thing in your sight O Lord God, but you have spoken also of your
servant’s house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man O Lord
God?” David asked. “And what can I say more unto thee? For thou Lord God knows
thy servant. For thy word’s sake and according to thine own heart have you done
all those great things to make your servant know them? Therefore you are great
O Lord God for there is none like you. Neither is there any God beside you
according to all that we have heard with our ears. And what one nation in the
earth is like your people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a
people for Himself and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and
terrible things for your land before your people which you redeemed to yourself
from Egypt from the nations and their gods?” (to be continued).
