After
that David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and
took them to Jerusalem. And from and from Betah and from Beruthai, two other
cities belonging to Hadadezer, he took much brass And when Toi, king of Hamath heard that David
had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, he sent his son Joram to David to salute
him and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer who had fought
against Toi. And Joram brought David
presents of gold and of silver and of brass, which David dedicated unto the
Lord, along with all the gold and silver he had acquired from all the nations he
had conquered, namely, Syria, Moab, the Ammonites, the Philistines and the
Amalekites. And David made himself a name when he returned from smiting after
he defeated eighteen thousand men of Syria in the valley of salt. And David
stationed garrisons throughout all Edom and the nations whom he conquered; and
David reigned over all Israel and executed justice unto all the people. And Joab
Zeruiah’s son was over the host and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahihud was the recorder.
And Zadok, the son of Ahitub and Ahimeleh the son of Abiathar were the priests
and Seraiah was the scribe. And Benaiah the son of Jehoiaida was over both the
