David
gathered Mighty men of Adullam
Leaving
Gath, David fled and dwelt in a cave called Adullam; and when his family heard
about it they gathered themselves unto him there, and so did all that were in
distress, those who were in debt, and everyone that was discontented, they all
gathered themselves unto David until he had a company of about four hundred
men. Thereafter David went to the King of
Moab and asked him to allow his father and his mother to remain with him until
he found out what the Lord had in store for him; and the king consented. So
David took his father and his mother and they dwelt with the king while David
was in his stronghold. And while there, the prophet Gad told David to leave his
stronghold and go to the land of Judah. And so David departed and came into the
forest of Hareth. In the meantime, Saul was still hunting David
and while he was under a tree, spear in hand, and surrounded by his men in the
land of Gibeah, he started a tirade against David, is own son Jonathon, and all
around him accusing them of conspiracy with David, and loving David more than
him.
