BRAGADAYJAH 866
Young
David had the anointing of the Lord God Almighty upon him. Yet he did not change his demeanor. His humility and his attention to his
father’s wishes remained the same. So
now his father Jesse called him and told him to go to the field of battle and
take supplies for his brothers; and without hesitation David complied. David
rose up early in the morning and left his sheep with a keeper, and went to the
trench just as the hosts had sounded the battle cry, and joined in battle one
army against the other. And David left his victuals in the hand of the driver
of the carriage, and went to his brothers; and as he was talking to them, Goliath
the Philistine champion appeared and shouted out his challenge to Israel and
David heard him. And the men of Israel when they saw Goliath were sore afraid
and fled from his presence. In the meantime the men of Israel exclaimed one to
another, “Have you seen this Goliath? He is indeed a monster and we are afraid
of him.” But it is offered to the man
who kills him great fortune as well as the hand of the king’s daughter in
marriage.” And David asked them to tell him what was to be done to the man who
killed Goliath and took away the reproach from Israel. “Who is this
uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?”
