BRAGADAYJAH 315
With regard to the birds, the
Lord starts off by pointing out what should not be eaten among them, being
abomination and were not to be eaten: the eagle, the ossifrage, the osprey, the
kite or vulture, the falcon, the ostrich, the hawk, including the night hawk,
the sea gull, the white owl, the cormorant, the horned owl, the swan, the
pelican, the eagle, the stork, the heron, the hoopoe, the lapwing and the
bat. All these winged creatures were
listed by God as abomination, and not to be eaten.
With regard to winged insects, there was also a list: all
winged insects going upon all four and have legs above their feet. Which they
use to leap upon the earth, could be eaten, including the locust, the bald
locust, the beetle and the grasshopper; but all other winged insects which have
four feet shall be an abomination unto you.
And if at any time any unclean insect of bird be touched,
even the carcass of any of them, you shall be unclean until evening. And if the
carcass of any unclean thing be carried, the person who does that shall wash
his clothes and be unclean until the evening.
And the carcass of every beast
which divides the hoof and is not cloven footed nor chews the cud, shall be
unclean and touching it makes the person unclean.
And every beast that goes
upon its paws, and go on all fours shall be unclean also. In addition, among
the creeping things that are also unclean are the weasel, the mouse, the
tortoise, the ferret, the chameleon, the lizard, the mole and the snail. www.chaberbooks.com
