Now after the consecration of Aaron and his sons, the Lord
commanded them by His servant Moses that they should not go out of the
tabernacle of the congregation for a period of seven days, the time God decreed
for the consummation of their consecration.
So that Aaron and his sons fulfilled the seven day period
within the tabernacle; for among other things, Moses warned them that should
they leave the tabernacle during the seven-day period, they would die.
And on the eight day, Moses called Aaron and his sons and the
elders of Israel, and said uto Aaron: “Take a young calf without spot or
blemish for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering without spot or
blemish, and offer them before the Lord. ”And unto the congregation Moses said,
“Take a kid of the goats for a sin offering, and a lamb both of the first year
without spot or blemish, for a burnt offering, Also a bullock and a ram for a
peace offering to sacrifice before the Lord, and a meal offering mixed with oil;
for today the Lord will appear unto you.
And the
people brought that which Moses commanded before the tabernacle of the congregation,
and they all drew near and stood before the Lord. And Moses said unto them, “This
is the thing the Lord commanded you to do and the glory of the Lord shall
appear unto you.”
Then Moses
commanded Aaron to go to the altar and offer the sin offering and the burnt
offering, and make an atonement for himself and offer the offering of the
people and make an atonement for them also; and so Moses went before the altar
and slew the calf of the sin offering which was for himself. More
