Here the Lord made it clear that a
sanctified person shall not only be clean, that is to say separated from sin
through the atonement and sanctification; but he shall touch no unclean thing
neither shall he eat Any unclean or prohibited thing.
So
the Lord spoke to Moses and said, “Speak unto the children of Israel and tell
them, you shall eat no manner of fat, whether of ox, or sheep or goat. Neither
shall you eat the fat of any beast that dies of itself, nor the fat of any
animal torn by a beast, in no wise shall such be eaten.”
“And whoso eats the fat of any
beast which has been offered as a burnt offering unto the Lord, he that eats it
shall be cut off from the people.”
“Neither shall any manner of blood be
eaten; whether it is the blood of a fowl or an animal, it shall not be eaten;
and if a soul eats of the blood of any animal that soul also shall be cut off
from among the people.”
“As regards the sacrifice of the
peace offering unto the Lord, the offeror shall bring his oblation of peace
offering, It must be brought by his own hand; including the fat with the
breast, and he shall he present it as his sacrifice of peace, so that the
breast may be waved as a wave offering before the Lord. The priest shall burn
the fat on the altar; but the breast shall be Aaron’s and his sons.”
“Then the right shoulder shall be
given to the priest for a heave offering of the sacrifice of your peace
offering; and whichever of Aaron’s son who officiates in offering the blood and
the fat shall have the right shoulder for his part.”
“And the waved breast and the heaved
shoulder I the lord has taken from the children of Israel from the sacrifices
of their peace offering, and have given unto Aaron and his sons by a statute
forever. This portion is given them by virtue of their anointing to serve in
the office of priests. And this is the law of the burnt offering.
