So Nadab and Abihu were taken out of the camp; and Moses
said to Aaron and Eleazar and Ithamar his sons, “Uncover not your heads neither
tear your clothes, lest you die, and lest wrath come upon all the people; but
let your brethren, the whole house of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord
has kindled.
And you
must not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation lest you
die. For the anointing oil of the lord is upon you. And they listened to Moses
and did not go out.
And the Lord spoke to Aaron and
said, “Do not drink wine, nor strong drink, neither you nor your sons when you
go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest you die; it shall be a statute
forever throughout your generations, so that you may differentiate between holy
and unholy and between clean and unclean. And that you may teach the children
of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath spoken unto them by the hand of
Moses.”
And Moses
spoke unto Aaron and unto Aleazar and Ithamar his sons that were left, and told
them to take the meal offering that remains after the offering made unto the Lord
by fire and eat it without leaven beside the altar; for it is a holy offering
of the Lord. You must eat it in the holy place for it is your and your son’s
due; of the sacrifice of the Lord made by fire.
And the
wave breast and heave shoulder shall be eaten in a clean place, you and your
sons and your daughters for they are your due and your sons due. More
