The Death of Jehoshaphat
So Ahab died and was buried with his fathers; and his son Ahaziah reigned in his stead. And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign in the fourth year of Ahab’s reign; and he was thirty five years old when he began to reign. And he reigned in Jerusalem twenty five years; and his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. And Jehoshaphat walked in all of the ways of his father, and turning not aside from doing that which was right in the sight of the Lord; but he did not take away the high places and the people continued to offer burnt offering on the high placers. And Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel. And the remnants of the sodomites which remained in the days of his father Asa he eradicated from the land. Also at the time there was no king in the land of Edom but there was a regent. And Jehoshaphat made ships of Tharshish to go to Ophir for gold; but they had broken down at Eziongeber. And at that time the new king of Israel Ahaziah suggested to Jehoshaphat that he allowed his men to go in the ships with Jehoshaphat’s men; but Jehoshaphat refused. And at last Jehoshaphat died and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead. And Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah and he reigned two years over Israel; and he did evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the ways of his father and mother and made Israel to sin as his father and mother before him had done.
