BRAGADAYJAH 1046
The Destruction of Ahab and Samaria decreed
Entering Ahab’s carriage, Benhadad told him that the cities which his father had taken from him he would restore unto him, and that as his father had made streets in Samaria, he would make streets for him in Damascus. And Ahab told him that he would make a covenant with him and send him away; and so based on their covenant one with the other, Benhadad was sent away. And one of the sons of the prophets asked his neighbor in the name of the Lord to smite him; but his neighbor refused to do so. And the son of the prophet told his neighbor that because he refused to obey the voice of the Lord, and refuse to smite him, that as soon as he leaves him a lion would slay him. And indeed as soon as he had departed a lion slew him. Then the son of the prophet found another man and told him to slay him, and the man slayed him; but in doing so he wounded him; and the prophet departed and waited for the king by the wayside, and disguised himself with ashes on his face. And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king and said, “Thy servant went out in the midst of the battle and behold a man turned aside and brought a man unto me and said keep this man; and if by any reason he goes missing, you shall give your life be for his life or you will pay me a talent of silver. But because I was busy here and there, he escaped from me.” And the king said unto him, “so shall thy judgment be;” for you, yourself, has decided it.” And the king hurried and removed the ashes from his face and in doing so he recognized that the man was a prophet. And he said to the king. “Thus saith the Lord; because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction. Therefore thy life and thy people for his people.” And the king of Israel returned to his house at Samaria heavy and displeased of heart.
