BRAGADAYJAH 1047
Elijah
slew the prophets of Baal.
The
people saw and believed. “The Lord He is God,” they proclaimed. And Elijah ordered them to take the prophets
of Baal, letting not one of them escape, and they took them down to the brook
Kishon and slew them all there. Then
Elijah said to Ahab, “Get thee up and eat and drink; for there is the sound of
abundant rain.” And Ahab went to eat and
drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel, and he sat on the ground with
his face between his knees, and he said to his servants, “Go up now and look
towards the sea.” And his servant went up and look and said to him, “There is
nothing.” And Elijah told him to go up and look seven times; and so his servant
went up repeatedly and looked and the seventh time, the servant reported that
he had seen a little cloud out to sea, no bigger than the size of a man’s
hand. And Elijah told him to go and tell
Ahab to prepare his chariot and go down that he may not be caught by the rain.
And soon after that there was abundant rain; and Ahab rode in his chariot to
Jezreel. And the hand of the Lord was with Elijah and he girded up his loins
and ran before Ahab and arrived at the gate of Jezreel before Ahab did.
