David Told Of Ahithophel’s Counsel
On their way to get to David, Jonathon and Ahimaaz remained at a place called Enrogel for they did not want to be seen going directly to David; but a woman saw them and took them and led them away; and a lad saw them and told Absalom. But they had moved on and came to a man’s house at Bahurim; and the house had a well in which they hid themselves. And the woman who had led them came and spread a cloth over the well’s mouth and spread ground corn over it and kept them hidden. And when Absalom’s servants came to the house and questioned the woman concerning them she said that indeed she had seen the men, but they had passed on and crossed over the river.  So Absalom’s men searched the area and when they could not find them they returned to Jerusalem. And after that the men came up out of the well and went and reported to David and told them of the counsel that Ahithophel had given to Absalom and advised him to arise quickly and go. So David arose and departed all his people with him and all crossed safely over Jordan.
