BRAGADAYJAH
834
When
Saul was not found, enquiry was made of the Lord, asking Him what they should
do, whether they should choose another man; but the Lord answered and told them
that Saul was hiding among the stuff, the baggage; so they ran and found him and
fetched him, and put him to stand among the people; and he was head and
shoulders above everyone else. And Samuel said to all the people, “Behold the
one that the Lord has chosen, that there is none like him among all the people!”
And all the people responded and said, “God
save the king.” Then Samuel recited to the people the manner of the kingdom,
and wrote in a book and laid it before the Lord. Then Samuel sent all the people away, each
man to his own house. And Saul also went home to his house at Gibeah accompanied
by a group of men whose hearts were touched by the Lord. But the children of Belial murmured and
asked, “How can this man save us?” So
they despised him and brought him no present.
But Saul said nothing to them.
