And
to continue, Moses told them, “You did not believe the promises of the Lord
your God who went in the way before you, to show you where to pitch your tent,
providing fire by night to show you the way, and a cloud to protect you by day. And the Lord heard your voice of unbelief and
became angry with you and vowed, that not one of you of that evil generation
should see that good land which He swore to give unto your fathers. None, that
is to say, except Caleb, the son of Jephunneh, he shall see it; for to him and
his children will I give the land that he had trodden upon, because he had
wholly followed the Lord”
“In
addition,” said Moses, “ the Lord was even angry with me for your sakes saying,
you shall also not go in there. But
Joshua the son of Nun who stands before you, he shall go in there. Encourage him for he shall cause Israel to
inherit it.”
“Moreover,
your little ones whom you said would be prey, and your children who in that day
had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in there; and unto them
will I give it, and they shall possess it.
But as
for you, turn and take your journey into the wilderness by way of the Red Sea.
