Now
after the men of war had cleansed themselves and returned into the camp, the
Lord commanded Moses and told him to count the amount of the spoils of war,
both human and beast and together with Eleazar the priest and the chiefs of the
congregation, divide it up into two parts; one part for the men who went out to
battle and the other to the rest of the congregation. And of each share, Moses
was instructed to take a levy unto the Lord, one five hundredth part per share
for Eleazar the priest. for him to use as a heave offering unto the Lord; and
of the children of Israel’s half one portion of fifty and for Eleazar the
priest for keeping the tabernacle of the Lord. And Moses and Eleazar did as the
Lord had commanded them.
