Still
not having entered into the land of promise, the children of Israel remained
near but yet so far away from the Promised Land. They could actually see it but
could not enter thereunto because their zeal was not supported by faith. So now
Moses spoke words to them. On this side of the Jordon between Paran and Tophel,
and Laban and Hazeroth and Dizahab. They were only eleven days journey away
from their final destination; yet they languished there for over thirty nine
years.
And
so it was in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month on the first day of the
month that Moses addressed them as the Lord had instructed him in accordance
with His Commandments
The
Lord our God spoke unto us in Horeb saying, “You have dwelt long enough in this
Mount. Turn, therefore, and take your journey and go to the mount of the
Amorites and to all the places nearby in the plains, the hills and low country
and in the South and by the seaside in the land of the Canaanites and unto
Lebanon and unto the great river Euphrates.”
