Moses
reminded them of the Ill Reports of the Spies.
The
men went up into the mountain, Moses reminded them, and searched out the area
around the valley of Eshcol, and there they found fruit which they took hold of
and brought back word that the land was a good land, which the Lord had given them. But they warned that we should not go up and
possess it thereby rebelling against the commandment of the Lord and the
congregation murmured in their tents and said that the Lord hated them, therefore,
He had brought them out of the land of Egypt to deliver them into the hands of
the Amorites to destroy them. So they murmured
why should we go up? The Amorites are
stronger and taller than we are; their cities are great and walled up to
heaven; and in addition we have seen the sons of Anakim there.”
But I
said unto you fear not. “The Lord your
God who goes before you; he shall fight for you according to as He did before
your eyes in Egypt, and also in the wilderness where the Lord your God bore
you, as a man bears his son, all the way wherever you went.
