BRAGADAYJAH 1146
Cyrus Returned sacred Vessels seized by Nebuchadnezzar
Interesting is it not? God called Cyrus who was not of the tribe of
Israel His servant. The point is,
wherever we come from whoever we are, God can use any of humanity to be His
servant to do His will. When God called Abraham He promises him that through
him all the families of the earth would be blessed. We see it through Ruth the
Moabitess; through Rahab the prostitute; we see it through the calling into
blessing of those who were once called gentiles. God is in the people business;
He is also in the family business. What advantage then have the Jews over the gentiles?
Only in that to them were given the oracles of God. So following upon Cyrus’
decree, the chief of the Fathers of Judah and Benjamin and the priests, and the
Levites and all those whose spirit God had raised up to go up to Jerusalem to
build the house of the Lord. And all they that were around them strengthened
their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, and with goods and with beasts,
and with precious things along with all that was willingly offered. Also Cyrus
the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord which
Nebuchadnezzar had taken away from Jerusalem and placed in the house of his
gods. All these did Cyrus send forth by the hand of Mithredath the Treasurer
and numbered them and delivered them to Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.
