BRAGADAYJAH 1128
Josiah Ordered
Repairs of the Temple
[i]Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign
and he reigned thirty one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jedidah
the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath. And Josiah did that which was right in the
sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of King David, turning not aside
to the right or to the left. And it came to pass that in the eighteenth year of
his reign he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam the scribe to
the house of the Lord and ordered him to go up to the high priest that he may
calculate the silver that was being brought into the house of the Lord, and
which the keeper of the door had collected from the people. And that they
should then give it to the workmen who were working on the repairs to the house
of the Lord, that the carpenters and masons and builders may buy materials
necessary to repair the house of the Lord. And that was done, and the workmen
all worked honestly so that no accounting of the money given to them to do the
work of the Lord was necessary.
