BRAGADAYJAH 1179
Nehemiah Prayed
In response to the taunts of Sanballat and Tobiah, Nehemiah prayed and
said, “Hear O our God for we are despised; so turn their reproach upon their
own head and give them for a prey in the land of captivity, and cover not their
iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee. For they have
provoked thee to anger before the builders.” So they continued to build the
wall and all the sections were joined together; for the people had a mind to
build. But it came to pass that when Sanballat and Tobiah and the Arabians and
the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were
progressing and that breaches were being stopped, their anger mounted. And they
conspired among themselves to wage war against Jerusalem, and to stop the
building works. But in the meantime Nehemiah and his companions continued to
petition the Lord, and set a watch over the works day and night. So the adversaries
devised a plan to mingle among them and kill them by subtlety and so frustrate
the work.
