BRAGADAYJAH 1164
Ezra sent for the Levites
And when Ezra went up to Jerusalem out of Babylonian captivity, there
went with him descendants of the sons of all the tribes. And Ezra gathered them
together on the banks of the river that flows to Ahava where they abode three
days. And while they camped there, Ezra examined the people that were gathered
there with him and found that none of the sons of Levi were among them. So Ezra
summoned to himself, eleven men including: Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan,
(there were three men with this same name,) Jarib, Nathan, Zechariah, Meshullam,
and Joiarib, all men of understanding, and sent them to Iddo the chief of the place
called Casiphia, with instructions to tell Iddo and his advisers to send unto
them ministers for the house of their God, because by the good hand of their
God unto them the sons of their fathers of Israel and Judah were gathered together
at Jerusalem.
