The preparation of the Tabernacle, the altar and its
instruments of worship are all completed as the Lord commanded; and so now He
calls Moses to give him further instructions, a sort of reminder actually, with
regard to matters of which He had spoken before.
So God
tells Moses that on the first day of the first month, he was to set up the
Tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
He was to place in it the ark of the testimony and cover it with the
veil.
Next he was
to install the table and set the in order the things which were to be set in
order upon it; then the lampstand was to be put on it and lighted.
Next he was
to put in its place the altar of gold for the incense in front of the ark of
the testimony and put on it the hangings for the door to the Tabernacle, and
place the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent
of the congregation.
Then he was
to place the laver between the tent of the congregation and the altar and pour
water in it. Then the court all around
was to be set up, and the hangings placed at the court gate. Then he would take the anointing oil and
anoint the Tabernacle and all that is in it, and bless it and all the vessels
in it and it shall be holy.
Next he was
to anoint the altar of burnt offering, together with all its vessels, and
sanctify the altar, and it shall be a most holy altar. Next to be anointed was
the laver and its foot, so that the Tabernacle, the ark of the testimony, the
table, and lampstand, the altar of gold, the altar of burnt offering, the laver
and all the vessels and furnishings were holy unto the Lord and anointed for
worship. More
