The Altar of Burnt offering
Further details of the work of Bezalel include the altar of
burnt offering and its appendages as God stipulated. The altar was made of
acacia wood, its length and width and height according to God’s specifications,
and overlaid with gold. The four horns,
one on each corner was also made of acacia wood, and overlaid with bronze.
And he made
all the vessels of the altar; the pots, the shovels, the basins, the
fleshhooks, and the fire pans, and all the other vessels made of bronze. He also made for the altar a bronze grate
underneath in the middle of it. And he set four rings for the four ends of the
grate of bronze to be places for the staves, made of acacia wood and overlaid
with bronze. And he placed the staves into the rings on the side of the altar
with which to bear it, and he made the altar hollow with boards of acacia wood.
He made
also the laver of bronze and the foot of it also of bronze with looking glasses
for the service of the women who served at the door of the tabernacle of the
congregation.
And he made
the court also, North, South, East and West as the Lord had commanded, with
their pillars, and hooks, and rings, and sockets made of bands of silver, with
the fine-twined linen hangings in place, as God ordained. More
