BRAGADAYJAH 1032
The Death of Rehoboam
So after he had reigned twenty two years he died and his son
Nadab reigned in his stead. And Rehoboam, the son of Solomon reigned over
Judah. Now Rehoboam was forty years old when he began to reign and he reigned
seventeen years over Jerusalem the city that the Lord had chosen out of all the
tribes of Judah to put His name. And
Nadab’s_ mother’s name was Naamah who was an Ammonitess. And Judah
did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provokes Him to jealousy with their
sins which they had committed above all that their fathers had done. For they
built high places, and images, and groves on every high hill and every green
tree. And there were also sodomites in the land and they did according to all
the abominations of the nations which the Lord cast out in favor of the
children of Israel. And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam’s
reign that Shishak king of Egypt rose up against Jerusalem and he took away the
treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king’s house,
including the shields of gold which Solomon had made. And king Rehoboam made in
their stead brazen shields and committed them to the care of the guards of the
door of the king’s house. And it was the practice that these brazen shields
were taken back and forth when the king went into the Lord’s house and back
again into the custody of the guards when he came out. And there was constant
war also between them during the days of Jeroboam. And Rehoboam eventually died
and was buried with his father in the city of David and Abijam his son reigned
in his stead.
