Then Joshua ordered that the caves be opened up and the five
kings brought to him, and they did so and brought all the five kings, the king
of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish and
the king of Eglon. And it came to that when they were brought out Joshua called
all the men of Israel and told the captains of the men of war, to put their
feet upon the necks of the five kings. “Don’t
be afraid or be dismayed he encouraged them for thus shall the Lord deal with
all your enemies.” and Joshua smote them and slew them and hanged them on five
trees. And at the going down of the sun, Joshua ordered that they be taken down
from the trees and dumped into the cave from which they were taken and the
entrance of the cave sealed with stones.
