The Waters returned
Now it came to pass that when all of the children of Israel
had completely passed over, the ark of the Lord and the priests also passed
over. And the children of Rueben and the
children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh passed over armed before the
children of Israel as Moses had before commanded them. There were about forty
thousand prepared for war unto battle to the plains of Jericho. And on that day the Lord magnified Joshua in
the sight of all Israel, and they feared him as they feared Moses all the days
of his life. And the Lord told Joshua to command the priests that they come up
out of the Jordan and he did so. And it came to pass that as soon as the
priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord lifted the soles of their
feet out of the midst of the Jordan, and set their feet on dry land that the
waters returned and overflowed the banks of the Jordan.
