And the Lord told Joshua, “Fear not neither be dismayed at
the people of Ai, because he had given the land to Israel. He assured Joshua
that he would do unto the people of Ai and their king as he had done unto the
King of Jericho; but reminded him to take only the spoils thereof and the
cattle thereof as prey. So Joshua arose and all the men of war with him and
went up against Ai and chose thirty thousand men of valor and send them by
night.
