Here the Lord repeats the
sentence for murder. “And he who kills any man shall be put to death.”
“There shall be one manner of
law; for the sojourner as well as the children of Israel; for I am the Lord.”
Law of the Land: The
Sabbatical Year. “And the Lord spoke unto Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, speak
unto the children of Israel, and say unto them. When you come into the land
which I give you, then shall the land keep a Sabbath unto the Lord.”
“Six years thou shall sow the
field and six years thou shall prune thy vineyard and gather in the fruit
thereof; but in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest unto the land, a Sabbath
for the Lord; thou shall neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard; that which
grows of its own accord of thy harvest thou shall not reap, nor gather the
grapes of the vines unpruned; it is a year of rest unto the land.”
“And the Sabbath of the land
shall be food for you and for your entire household including the stranger
within your gates, your man servants and your maid servants, and of thy cattle
and all the beasts of the land, and all the increase thereof, shall be food for
