The Fifth Feast- The Feast of
Trumpets.
The Feast of Trumpets may be
seen as prophetic of the future ingathering of Israel long dispersed.
For the Lord spoke unto Moses
and said, “Speak unto the children of Israel and say to them, that in the
seventh month on the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a
memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. Ye shall do no servile work therein; but
shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord.”
This Feast is followed by the
sixth feast, the Day of Atonement which was to be on the tenth day of the
seventh month. On this day there was to be a holy convocation, when the soul was
afflicted and an offering made by fire unto the Lord.
As in the other Sabbath days,
no work was to be done; for whatsoever soul that was not afflicted and any soul
that defiled the day by any servile work, that soul was to be cut off from the
rest of the people.
