Report of the Five Men
Then the five men departed and began
their journey. And when they came to La’ish they saw that the people there that
they lived carelessly, the way the Zidonians lived, quietly and securely,
having no Magistrate in the land to deal with any matter that should arise
among them; yet they kept themselves to themselves and had no dealings with the
Zidonians. Then the five spies returned to their brethren to Zorah and Eshtaol and
they were asked what they had seen and what was their report? And the spies
said, “Arise let us go up against them for we have seen the land and it very
good; let us not stand still. Let us make haste and go and possess the land;
for when we go we shall come to a people secure, and to a large land; for God
has given it into your hands. It is a
place where there is no lack of any good thing in the land.
