With regard to the Kohathites,
the sons of Kohath, Aaron’s second son God commanded Moses concerning them
too. These Moses was to number males
from thirty years and upwards unto age fifty years selected to do the work in
the tabernacle of the congregation touching the most holy things.
When the camp was set
forward, Aaron and his sons were to take down the covering veil and cover the
ark of testimony with it, and replace them with the covering of badgers’ skins,
and spread over it a covering wholly of blue and fastened with the staves
thereof.
And upon the table of
showbread they shall spread a cloth of blue and put thereon the dishes and the
spoons and bowls and covers with which to cover them and bread shall be upon
the table continually.
And they shall spread upon
them a cloth of scarlet, covered with a covering of badgers’ skin fastened with
staves. And they shall take a cloth of blue and cover the lampstand of the
light and its lamps and its tongs, the snuff dishes and all the oil vessels
