BRAGADAHJAY 1115
Isaiah assured Hezekiah of God’s help
And it came to pass that when Hezekiah heard the words of Rabshakeh
from the lips of his servants, that he was very sorrowful, and tore his clothes,
and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord. And he
sent Eliakim who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe and the elders
of the priests covered with sackcloth to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz. And
they say to him the words of Hezekiah which were, “that the time was a time of
trouble and rebuke, and blasphemy; for the children are come to the birth but there
is no strength to deliver. Maybe the Lord our God will hear the words of Rabshakeh
the servant of the king of Assyria whom he sent to reproach the living God, and
will reprove the words which the Lord has heard. Therefore lift up a prayer for
the remnant that are left.” And so the servants of King Hezekiah delivered the
message to Isaiah and Isaiah told them thus shall you say to your master. “Thus
sayeth the Lord, be not afraid, of the words with which the servant of the king
of Assyria has blasphemed me. For I shall send a blast upon him, and he shall
hear a rumor and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall be
the sword in his own land.
