BRAGADAYJAH 1114
Rabshakeh Continues harangue
Then Rabshakeh continued to harangue the servants and people of
Hezekiah saying, ”The time will come
eventually when you shall be taken away to a land like your own land; a land of
corn and wine; a land of bread and vineyards; a land of olive oil and of honey,
that you may live and not die. Do not listen to Hezekiah when he tells you that
the Lord will deliver you. Has any of the gods of the nations delivered them
out of the hand of my lord the king of Assyria? Where are the gods of Hamath
and of Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? Have they
delivered Samaria out of my hand? Who are they among all of the gods of the
countries that have delivered their countries out of my hand?” But the people answered him not a word; for
king Hezekiah had commanded them to answer him not a word. And so after that
king Hezekiah’s three servants, their torn clothes showing their distress at
the words of Rabshakeh, went and reported to King Hezekiah, all the words of
Rabshekeh.
