So the children of Dan having conquered
the land, lived by themselves in that remote area. They were not affiliated
with the rest of Israel. There was no one to deliver them because they lived
far from Zidon and they kept to themselves having no business with any other
people. And they built themselves a city and dwelt there. And they named the
city Dan after the name of Dan their father who was a son of Israel. And the
children of Dan set up the graven images, and Jonathan the son of Gershom the
son of Manasseh and his sons were made priests to the tribe of Dan and remained
so until the day of the captivity of the land. And during that time they set up
the graven and molten images which they had taken out of the house of Micah and
worshiped them.
