Effects of the Siege.
We
have to understand that all of these warnings, and what have gone before and
those that are yet to be pronouncements are but God telling his people what
would befall them
in the future, when they are in possession of the land which the Lord is about
to give o them, and manifold warnings of what would happen to them if they
disobeyed. So God warned them of
terrible times during the siege that would come upon them. “You shall eat the fruit of your own body,
the flesh of your sons and your daughters, so much so that the man who is
tender among you and very delicate his eye shall be evil toward his brother and
toward his wife and towards the remnant of his very children. The tender woman among
you who would normally not normally place the sole of her feet on the ground for
delicateness and tenderness, would turn upon and lust after to eat the flesh of
her husband and her sons and her daughters, and towards the very baby that she
has brought into the world. More
