BRAGADAYJAH 448
The Ordinance of the Red
Heifer
Now the Lord spoke unto Moses
and Aaron concerning the Ordinance of the Red Heifer. “This is the law which
the Lord commanded and said, speak unto the children of Israel that they bring
to thee a red heifer without spot or blemish and which was never yoked and give
it to Eleazar which he shall take outside of the camp and have it slayed in his
presence.
Then he shall take the blood
on the tip of his finger and sprinkle it seven times immediately in front of
the tabernacle of the congregation. Then
the heifer should be burnt in the sight of the priest, the skin the flesh the
dung and its blood. And the priest shall take cedar wood and hyssop and scarlet
and cast it unto the burning heifer.
After that the priest shall
wash his clothes and bathe his flesh in water before returning to the camp and
afterwards he shall be unclean until the evening; and the person who did the burning
shall also wash his clothe in water and bathe his flesh in water; and shall be
unclean until evening.
And a man who is clean shall
gather up the ash of the heifer and pile it up outside the camp in a clean place
and it shall be kept there for the children of Israel and the place kept as a
place of separation for the children of Israel.
And he who gather up the
ashes shall also wash his clothes and his flesh and shall be unclean until
evening.
