The Lord Excluded Aaron form
Inheritance
The Lord specifically
excluded Aaron and his descendants from having any inheritance of the lands of
Israel, their portion having been as outlined above. So He told Aaron, “Thou shall have no
inheritance in their land neither shall thou have any part in them. I am thine part and thine inheritance among
the children of Israel.”
As for the Levites, he told
him, “I have given them the tenth in Israel for an inheritance for their
service which they serve in the tabernacle of the congregation. In addition, the children of Israel must never
again go near the tabernacle of the congregation lest they sin and die. The Levites service is in the service of the
tabernacle of the congregation; “they shall bear their iniquity; and this shall
be so forever,” added the Lord.
The tithes of the children of
Israel which they offer as a heave offering unto the Lord, I have given to the
Levites to inherit. That is why I say unto them, said the Lord, they shall have
no other inheritance in the land.
