BRAGADAYJAH 363
Law of the Land – Law of the
Poor Brother.
“And if thy brother hath
become poor and cannot support himself among you, then you shall relieve him
even though he is a sojourner or a stranger that he may live with thee.”
“Take no interest or profit
from him; but fear thy God, that thy brother may live with thee. Thou shall not
give him money upon interest nor lend him your food supply for profit. I am the
Lord your God who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the
land of Canaan and to be your God.”
“And if your brother who
lives with you has become poor and be sold unto thee, thou shall not compel him
to serve you as a slave, but as a hired servant, and a sojourner shall he be
with you, and shall serve you until the year of jubilee. And then shall he depart from thee both he
and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family and to the
possession of his ancestors. For they are my servants whom I brought forth out
of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves.”
Thou shall not rule over him
with rigor, but shall fear the Lord. All your male and female slaves which you
may buy shall be of the Nations round about; but not my people.” More
