BRAGADAYJAH 1174

BRAGADAYJAH 1174

The Rebuilding of the Walls of Jerusalem
Then Nehemiah accompanied by the captains and horsemen of the kings army, appeared unto the governors and presented them with the king’s letter. And it happened that when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, an Ammonite heard of the king’s letter it grieved them that such a man would come to look after the welfare of the children of Israel. And after three days in Jerusalem Nehemiah and his companions rose up in the night not having told anyone what in his heart to do; and carrying no beast with him except that on which he rode, went out in the night by way of the gate to the valley and viewed the walls of Jerusalem which had been broken down and burnt with fire. He then went up still riding the beast to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s pool but there was no way for him to pass. So he went up still in the night, and viewed the walls and turned back, and returned via the gate of the valley. All this was done under cover of darkness and concerning his movements or intentions he told no one not even the Jews.
