BRAGADAYJAH 1170

BRAGADAYJAH 1170
Reconciliation to God through Confession and Separation.
And so it came to pass that when Ezra was finished praying, and after he had confessed with weeping and casting himself down, before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel, a very great congregation of men and women and children for the people wept very sorely. And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel one of the sons of Elam answered and told Ezra, that they had trespassed against God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land but that there was yet hope in Israel. Therefore, he continued, “Let us now make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives and such as are born of them according to the counsel of my lord and or those that tremble at the commandments of our God. And let it be done according to the law. Arise tell us what to do and be it good or bad we will do it. And the upshot of all this was that all the men of Israel and Judah appeared before the Tribunal headed by Ezra for the purpose; and having confessed to their transgression covenanted to put away their strange wives that the anger of God may be abated.
